You are going to get a real kick out of this gorgeous new trend. It’s called “Macaron Hair” and it is taking over the hairstyling world faster than you would believe.
This gorgeous, more muted version of the rainbow hair trend, is also being nicknamed “Candy Unicorn Hair”. It’s called this for it’s use of the more pastel colors often used when making unicorn toys, and since these colors are also popularly used in candy, it just fits!
Apparently, your palette for mimicking this hairstyle is basically violet, pale pink, peach, mint green, yellow, blue and silver.
If you love it already, you can thank Shelley Gregory. She’s the hairstylist and colorist behind the new style and she says she was inspired by the famous macaron and pastry shop, Laduree, which is based out of New York City. The popular shop, has become a cult favorite amongst locals and is apparently known for creating macarons using this same “Candy Unicorn” color scheme.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan about her creation, Gregory said, “Everything from the crown molding and the way they display the macarons — it sticks with you. It’s kind of like Disneyland, where it’s magic. I wanted that feeling when you look at this hair.” And though we haven’t been to this famous shop of hers, now that she mentions it, we can kind of see it, based on the macaron stands we have seen getting more popular at malls lately.
This hairstyle definitely looks whimsical, and the fact that it was inspired by a type of candy cookie, really tickles both our fancy and our sweet tooth!
