Terminally-Ill Teen Marries His Sweetheart 3 Days Before His Death

Grab the tissues, you’re going to need them.

When Omar Al Shaikh, a 16-year-old diagnosed with leukemia, found out he only had a few days to live, his only wish was to marry girlfriend Amie Cresswell, also 16.

This girl……is just perfect.

According to Daily Mail, the British teen had been in remission when he started dating Amie eight months ago but received bad news in March when the doctors told him the disease had returned.

Omar underwent chemotherapy treatment, with Amie visiting him as much as possible, and waited to find a stem cell donor.

By the time a donor was found, it was too late for Omar since it had spread to his bone marrow. The doctors told him on June 14 that there was nothing more they could do for him. Omar proposed to Amie three days later.

“When Omar told me what the doctors said it just took my breath away,” Amie told the Daily Mail. “He proposed on Wednesday and I just didn’t think twice.”

With the support of their families, Omar and Amie quickly organized the ceremony and exchanged vows at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Amie wore a pink prom dress and garland of flowers her hair. Omar fashioned a ring out of flowers (see more pics here).

Amie said, “As he put the ring on my finger he said he wished he had more time with me. I really wish we had too, but I’m just so glad we had the chance to make this happy memory.”

On Monday, three days after they tied the knot, Omar died with his wife, holding his hand.

4His funeral was held the following day.

“It’s been a really emotional past 10 days,” confessed his widow.
